A Groundbreaking Update
Building a monument to Captain Janeway in her hometown of Bloomington, Indiana
We have officially broken ground for our monument to Captain Janeway!
Early Saturday evening, June 27, the leaders of the Captain Janeway Collective gathered along Bloomington’s B-Line trail next to Wonderlab Museum to officially break ground for our Captain Janeway monument. In the coming weeks, crews will lay the cement pad in preparation for October’s unveiling.
Speaking of the unveiling…
A team of artists at bronze art studio Sincerus has completed the upper portion of the monument, and it is being prepared for delivery to Accent Limestone, where it will be attached to the base.
We can’t show you yet. But wow. We can’t wait for you to see her.
Limestone base
We recently took a tour of Reed Quarries, where we’ll be picking the limestone block from which our monument’s base will be carved. Right here in Bloomington, Reed Quarries has been operating in Janeway’s hometown for over a hundred years. Limestone is such an essential part of Indiana’s heart, and we’re glad to support this local company. See photos from the tour!
Last, but not least…
The Janeway Collective was recently featured on the Star Trek Story, Myth and Arcs podcast! Give it a listen here.
