MONUMENT UNVEILING:
WHEN & WHERE
WHEN:
In Star Trek: Voyager’s “Resolutions,” Captain Janeway and Chakotay contract an incurable illness. Forced to disembark their starship and relinquish their command roles, the Voyager crew journeyed onward without them. Our Captain knew the importance of isolation and resigned herself to a life on an alien world light years from Earth, with no hope of returning to her Bloomington, Indiana home. So too are we faced with a world in isolation.
It is with a degree of sadness that we must announce the postponement of the May 23rd unveiling of our monument to Captain Janeway. While we hope this current crisis has begun to subside by the end of May, there are simply too many unknowns, and too much on the line.
Make no mistake, this is just a postponement.
We still intend to host a public unveiling with a weekend of Star Trek-themed activities and are working with our local partners to determine when that will take place. This also grants us the opportunity to expand upon our original plans and extend invitations to certain VIP persons previously unable to attend.
WHERE:
On a happier note, we are very excited to announce the official location for our Captain Janeway monument!
After close coordination with the City of Bloomington, it has been determined the installation will take place along Bloomington’s B-Line Trail, next to WonderLab Museum. This location sits in the heart of Bloomington’s downtown, and we are thrilled with its proximity to an institution focused on STEM education.
